(MARQUETTE) (November 15, 2016) – The Veridea Group has announced the completion of its $45 million Liberty Way development. On November 8th the company accepted its first guests at the new 102-room Staybridge Suites®-Marquette. The final building in Veridea’s Liberty Way development on the former site of the Bunny Bread commercial bakery, Staybridge Suites is the Upper Peninsula’s first extended stay hotel.
Veridea President and CEO, Bob Mahaney described the significance of the hotel’s opening.
“This is a significant milestone for not just Veridea and our partners, but also for the City of Marquette,” Mahaney said. “The Staybridge Suites offers both business and leisure visitors a new level of lodging in our market that is much needed and that will support the strong growth underway in Marquette. It also represents the culmination of 4 years of effort by our partners – the City of Marquette, it’s Brownfield Authority, MEDC, and our financial partners – and our team of associates to transform a vacant manufacturing site into Liberty Way, which now stands completed.”
The new property offers well-designed spacious guestrooms which include a mix of studio and one-and two-bedroom/two-bathroom suites, along with 800 square feet of meeting space. Amenities such as a complimentary daily hot breakfast buffet, evening guest reception, daily housekeeping, guest laundry room, expanded fitness center, 24-hour business center, home theater and outdoor terrace overlooking the City and Lower Harbor are available for all guests.
Veridea will host a public open house on Tuesday, December 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local residents will be given the opportunity to tour the hotel’s public areas, meet General Manager Julie Swanson and other staff members, as well as tour guest suites.
“I hope people will stop in to the open house,” Mahaney stated. “We’re excited about the Staybridge, and we look forward to sharing it with the community.”
The hotel is located at the intersection of Washington and Lincoln Streets in the Liberty Way development. It is owned and operated by Veridea Group. The Staybridge Suites brand is part of IHG’s family of brands in nearly 100 countries and territories.
